History

The private Wanless Hospital, Miraj was affiliated with College for 40 years (1963 to 2004). The institute has two hospitals affiliation. One is in college campus at Miraj and other at Sangli, older district hospital. Padmabhushan Vasantdada Patil General Hospital Sangli is affiliated to this college since 1971. General Hospital Miraj was erected & anagurated in 1992at the hands of then Chief Minister Hoin Sharadchandra Pawar. . Hospitals serves to patients from Kokan region, Karnataka and rural Maharashtra. General Hospital Miraj has 200 beds capacity and General Hospital Sangli has 388 bed capacity. There is duplication of all facilities. The patient care at both places has been excellent.

Facilities and Performance

Hospital has all facilities for modern teaching. CT scan, MRI, colour Doppler, laparoscopy, arthroscopy, colposcopy, foetal monitor, audiometry, EEG, facility are available. Medical, surgical, pediatric and neonatal ICUs are available at both hospitals.

  • Rajiv Gandhi Jivandayee Arogya Yojna and Janani Suraksh Yojna are functional at both places since 2013. The patient’s response to both yojnas is very good.
  • HIV and AIDS center opened in 1992 and has been awarded trophy twice for excellent service in 2013 and 2014.
  • Special Reference laboratory for diagnosis of HIV and venereal diseases was established by MSACS in 2010. It undertakes responsibility of training of technicians and quality control of tests done at Satara, Kolhapur, Ratnagiri and Sangli districts. This Laboratory is NABL accredited as A+.
  • Hospitals provides online Handicap certificate since 2013.
  • Dialysis unit at Miraj is 10 bedded and has been appreciated well.
  • Radiotherapy unit (Radioactive cobalt) is functional at GH Sangli.
  • Hospital Medical Record section is undergoing global change. Soon international disease code will be practiced at both hospitals.
  • Operative Training Workshops are organized by different department periodically.
  • Existing blood bank will be up gradated to provide blood fractionation facility.
  • Hospital participates in hospital outreach activities too. Camps are regularly organized in collaboration with NGOs.

654 patients attended the Epilepsy Camp at GH Sangli organized on 25.01.2015. National Health Mission organized this camp. Neurologists from whole Maharashtra were invited.
