Dear Students and Parents

dean-gmcGovernment Medical College, Miraj (dist. Sangli) is one of the oldest medical colleges in south western Maharashtra. This college was started in 1962 with 30 intake capacity without having own college and hospital building. Being inaugurated at hands of second president of India on 80 acres of barren land, two chief ministers were associated with this medical college in conceptualization and erection of building. Read history of this college and get excited to enter this medical college.

We admit 150 students for MBBS and 80 students for PG courses. We run PGDMLT, BPMT, M Sc (biochemistry, Pharmacology) and PhD courses too. The college was earlier affiliated to Pune university (1963-64), then to Shivaji University, Kolhapur (1964 to 1998) and Maharashtra Health Sciences University, Nashik from 1998.

College is located in semi urban place, free of air and noise pollution. Nature lover will enjoy staying in residential campus which is green, calm and beautiful. Teaching and learning places are surrounded by nature’s beauty. Teachers and senior students are mentors for new joiner. No ragging is reported in this college yet. Library has e-learning facility.

Each teaching department has own Buildings and are spacious with unique building design. Hospital has separate outpatient and inpatient buildings. College has all facilities for modern teaching, audio-visual aids, video-microscopes.

Soon ATM facility will be available in the campus. Fee payments will be online internet based. Parents can pay fee from their home. Please note that every batch will have a fee hike by 10% from previous batch fee as per state government rule. The fee structure for UG and PG students will be applicable to the batch till one passes out. Details are available in student section.

Pandharpur road (SH204) divides college campus from residential campus. Residential green campus has dean’s Bungalow, professors’, staff quarters and 2 Ladies hostels. Boy’s hostels are in college campus. Bicycle ride and walking in campus is enjoyable. Tennis court, gymkhana, play ground and open theatre in residential campus are student’s favourite places to spend time.

College has Alumni association, a former students association. Formers students have achieved high academic career and have been placed at prestigious position. The alumni are very active and willing to donate towards the progress of this institute. I appeal to each student to donate generously to alumni fund while leaving this institute.
